White Tail Recording is the name of my home studio. It's a modest little spot, but I think it sounds pretty good. I've had the pleasure of using it to help friends make their music. Here are some projects I've recorded for other folks. Maybe I could help you make yours, too.
I recorded an EP and two singles with the Emme Smith Trio. Full disclosure, I was also the bands' guitarist. I engineered, mixed, and produced all of our music. Our take on the traditional carol "Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella," this is my personal favorite track we recorded together. I played all of the instruments on this one, with the exception of the piano.
My good friend Hunter of James the Less brought this tune to the studio. He'd adapted the lyrics from some poetry a friend had written and asked him to turn into a song. In addition to engineering and mixing this, I played the banjo, slide guitar, bass, moog synthesizer, and tambourine.
The lead single from a traditional folk EP I put out in 2020. Arranged, produced, and mixed by myself, I also played all of the instruments you hear on this one. Backing vocals are from my sister Emily, who coincidentally is also the vocalist for the Emme Smith Trio.
A last minute commission for a podcast. They wanted an exciting intro and some relaxed intermission music. I composed, played the instrumentation, and mixed these. I can't take credit for the voice acting, though— that's my brother-in-law.
